The daughter of William Lyon Thompson and Marion Blanche Hargrave, Marilyn Thompson graduated from high school in Kenora and then completed a diploma course in Physical and Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1954. Her career as a Physiotherapist included work for the W.C.B. in Edmonton, the Calgary General Hospital and the Holy Cross Hospital. Marilyn came to be a mountain person. She loved climbing, hiking, skiing and ski mountaineering and in this context met her husband of 50 future years, Gordon Crocker whom she married in 1969. She was active with the Alpine Club of Canada and the Calgary Mountain Club. International travel was a large part of her life with the emphasis being on physical activity.

She is survived by her husband Gordon Crocker, Gordon’s children Susan Crocker (John Hunkin) and Robert Crocker (daughter Claire and her mother Cairn McArthur), her sister in law Lyn Thompson, and
her four Thompson nephews; Donald (Laurie), Geoffrey (Nancy), Gary (Kathy) and Howard (Gudrun) and their families. Marilyn was predeceased by her brother William.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Marilyn in the spring.
