Obituary for Margery Sadie Knibbs

Margery Sadie Knibbs
July 12, 1947 - March 14,2022

Margery Knibbs of Purple Springs, AB passed away unexpectedly on our family farm on Monday, March 14, 2022 at the age of 74 years.

She is survived by her devoted son, Darwin Knibbs, of Medicine Hat; sisters, Marlene Henry (Bryon Walkey) of Lethbridge, Geri (Andrew) Bronson of Lethbridge, Val Knibbs of Edmonton and Cindy (Don) Helfrick of Calgary; niece, Nikita (Arthur) Machula; great nephew, Bart of Calgary; nieces, Amy Bronson of Calgary and Julia Bronson of Victoria, BC; nephew, Jason Henry (Crystal Irwin); and great nephew, Devon Henry of Coaldale. She was predeceased by her parents, Ruth and Lloyd Knibbs; her loving partner of many years, Rudy Seeger; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Born in the Galt Hospital in Lethbridge on July 12, 1947, she spent her very early years in Hosmer, BC. Her parents then moved to Taber where she attended elementary school and enjoyed various activities at the United Church. In 1959 when she was 12, the family moved to our Purple Springs farm where she worked side by side with her father, mother and sisters to develop the family farm. Her son, Darwin and nephew, Jason, would later gladly lend a hand whenever they came to visit.
Marge moved to Edmonton in 1965, owning her own accounting business and managing a hotel for many years. She was a single parent at a time when it was uncommon. She was a strong, spirited, independent woman who went above and beyond to help those in need, including animals.

She returned to the family farm in 1993 when our father passed away while he was still farming. Marge looked after the farm and our mom until she passed away a year later. Marge decided to remain and continue to oversee the farm. She particularly enjoyed gardening and continued to do so even when she became less mobile.

Our family would like to thank everyone who helped Marge in any way as it allowed her to choose to remain there. We are especially grateful to Dave and Janie Mulner and Dale Henderson.

At her request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marge’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
