Obituary for Lyall Revelle Finlayson

Finlayson, Lyall Revelle
18 December -30 November 2019

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lyall, Husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
Lyall’s smile would light up the room, and he expressed his love for whomever was present.

Lyall had a driving force to excel and reach far beyond his initial journeyman’s certificates in Auto & Heavy-Duty Mechanics. Working for the Federal Government, he kept 3 Arctic communities with power, water and heat, and maintained all the heavy equipment.

Upon leaving the Arctic, Lyall managed and maintained equipment for Public Works in Yellowknife NWT and District of North Vancouver. Restless, and striving for more, he operated his own business in Vernon BC, Burnaby BC and Saskatoon Sask.

Prior to his strokes and Cerebral Vascular Dementia resulting in retirement at age 59, he served as Service Manager for Ford and District Technical Supervisor for Engine Rebuilders.

His hobbies were restoring antique cars, photography, stock car racing, creating furniture and accessories as well as travel. Lyall also acted as a volunteer fireman in Yellowknife. His accomplishments were many and his life was full.

He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, Virginia; sons, Robert, Michael (Michelle) and George (Rebecca); 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren as well as nephew Thomas Ens, nieces Lyla McLaren and Pamela (Henry) Kostynuik.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Lutheran Church of our Savior (8831 Fairmount Drive SE, Calgary, AB).
