Garcia, Luzviminda "Meg" Mendi
Luzviminda Mendi, aged 65 years old, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Agape Hospice in Calgary, Alberta on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. She was born on July 5, 1954 in Pulilan, Bulacan to Marcelo and Salud Mendi. She is survived by her mother Salud Mendi and her siblings that reside in the Philippines, her husband Palmer Garcia, her 3 children Jeremy Piedra, Carlo Piedra and Paula Tolentino and her 3 grand-children Skye Piedra, Clive and Cole Piedra. She is pre-deceased by her father Marcelo Mendi and Renato Mendi.
Luzviminda studied in the Philippines, often excelling in any subject. She was the eldest of 9 children and took on the role as the bread winner for her family. She was a woman of many talents and found herself pursuing many ideas to become an entrepreneur. She worked for Alberta Health Services for years until moving to the United States and settling back to Vancouver, BC because she loved being by the ocean and nature. Her sickness took her back to Calgary, AB where she spent time with her daughter, sons and grand-children. Her faith in God never waivered, often changing with life’s experiences but always holding it close to her heart. Luzviminda “Meg” made many friends this way and encouraged those to seek out God in their own way.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at Choice Memorial (4715 13 St. NE) on August 25, 2019. The Viewing will be at 5:00pm, Service starting at 6:00pm and Reception from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.
