Louise passed away peacefully on Monday, June 29, 2020 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was 81.
Louise was born on a farm in Saint-Zénon-du-Lac-Humqui, Québec to Claudia and Arthur Lévesque. She was one of 18 children.
At the age of 16, after the early death of her father, she moved to Montreal to live with one of her brothers. At the age of 25, she met her husband Watson while selling mutual funds – he spoke no French and she spoke very little English but some how they hit it off! They were soon married and had one daughter, Connie.
The couple started a business on the south shore of Montreal and worked side by side for 40 years before retiring to a small acreage north of the city. Their daughter had moved across the country to Calgary years before and Louise made sure to travel there several times each year to visit. In 2009, they decided to pack up and head west for good.
They moved to a 500-acre working ranch in Millarville, AB where the air was clean and deer wandered freely – a small piece of heaven on earth. But the peace was short-lived. Watson passed away suddenly 9 months later and Louise moved into Calgary to be close to the four grandkids. She adored spending time with them, especially taking them shopping!
As Louise’s condition slowly progressed, she moved into assisted living and eventually, long term care. She is remembered for her feisty but generous spirit, her strong work ethic and her amazing cooking! She loved her large family and worked hard to keep everyone in touch over the years. She treasured her cats. She always looked great and never left the house without lipstick! She will be dearly missed.
Her family thanks the staff of the McKenzie Towne Continuing Care Centre for their support and care. They would also like to thank the companions from Granddaughters.ca for their help over the past few years.

Louise est née sur une ferme à Saint-Zénon-du-Lac-Humqui, au Québec, de Claudia et Arthur Lévesque. Elle était l'une des 18 enfants.
À l'âge de 16 ans, après le décès prématuré de son père, elle s'installe à Montréal pour vivre avec un de ses frères. À l'âge de 25 ans, elle a rencontré son mari Watson alors qu'elle vendait des fonds communs de placement - il ne parlait pas français et elle parlait très peu l'anglais, mais d'une manière ou d'une autre, ils se sont bien entendus ! Ils se sont rapidement mariés et ont eu une fille, Connie.
Le couple a lancé un commerce sur la rive sud de Montréal et a travaillé côte à côte pendant 40 ans avant de prendre la retraite au nord de la ville. Leur fille avait traversé le pays pour s'installer à Calgary des années auparavant et Louise s'assurait de s'y rendre plusieurs fois par année pour la visiter. En 2009, ils ont décidé de faire leurs bagages et de se rendre définitivement dans l'Ouest.
Ils se sont installés sur un ranch de 500 acres à Millarville, en Alberta, où l'air était pur et où les cerfs erraient librement - un petit coin de paradis sur terre. Mais la paix a été de courte durée. Watson est décédé subitement neuf mois plus tard et Louise s'est installée à Calgary pour être proche des quatre petits-enfants. Elle adorait passer du temps avec eux, surtout les emmener magasiner!
Comme l'état de Louise progressait lentement, elle s'est installée dans un centre d'assistance et, finalement, dans un centre de soins de longue durée. On se souvient d'elle pour son esprit fougueux mais généreux, sa forte éthique de travail et sa cuisine étonnante! Elle aimait beaucoup sa grande famille et travaillait fortement pour que tout le monde reste en contact. Elle chérissait ses chats. Elle était toujours très belle et ne quittait jamais la maison sans rouge à lèvres ! Elle nous manquera beaucoup.
