Obituary for Lou Ellyn Heth (Lee)

Lou Ellyn Heth (Lee) of Calgary, Alberta passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at the age of 74. She was born in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1948 to Freda (Lehman) and Leforest Lee and was big sister to three amazing siblings, Glenn (Pat) Lee; Lorne (Deb) Lee; and Lauri (Bud) Brunner. She met the love of her life, Wayne Allen Heth, at a hayloft party in Edmonton, AB and then married him in May of 1969 at Beulah Alliance Church. Shortly after they married, their two beautifully cherished children, Geoffrey Wayne in 1971 and Jillene Lanette in 1974 were born.

During Lou Ellyn’s life she moved often with Wayne and his job with Amoco to places such as Drayton Valley AB, Chicago IL, Houston TX and always back and forth to Calgary AB. Lou Ellyn was a gifted soprano, had beautiful artistic skills she used for different mediums and was a gracious hostess all of her life. Wayne preceded Lou Ellyn to Heaven in 2018 to make sure she had all she needed upon her own arrival. They left a legacy of faith, grace, and generosity and a large loving family who will continue this legacy.

They had two beloved ‘bonus’ children in Janel Heth and Sean Zimmer who took on the challenge to join the family as spouses and became beautifully cherished children as well. Then came the grandchildren who delighted and fascinated their grandparents and were most certainly loved well, Madellyn (Matt) Pauls, Zachariah, Halle and Rylie Heth; plus Chelsea (Howard, Jayda, Olivia and Jet); Layton, and Haley Zimmer; Ethan and Emily DaSilva. Lou Ellyn will also be lovingly remembered by her extended Heth clan siblings, Larry, Galen, Melvin, Howard (Bev), and Linda (Dave). Both Lee and Heth families have numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that Lou Ellyn loved dearly and will miss her presence in their lives alongside her special friends, new and old, who all loved Lou Ellyn well in this life. She was predeceased by her own parents, Wayne’s parents and two of Wayne’s brothers, Bryan and Donald (Marlene) - who she is now being welcomed by. Lou Ellyn passed away peacefully in her room at the Manor Village at Varsity and was lovingly cared for by their ‘team’ in her final days. Words cannot express our gratitude to them.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lou Ellyn’s memory to either New Story Community or to Iyahrhe Nakoda Food Bank Society. These were places Lou Ellyn showered love upon in her final days.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 130 pm at Rockpointe Church – Bowridge (12 Bowridge Dr NW, Calgary, AB). For those who are not able to attend Service, you may watch it here via LiveStream here.
