Lorraine Howes
April 10th, 1955 - Sunday, October 11th, 2020

Born on April 10th, 1955 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Walter and Vivian Bradfield, Lorraine Frances Howes passed on October 11th, 2020 from renal failure at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her husband of 42 years Raymond Howes; 2 children Adam Howes and Amanda Dreger; 3 granddaughters Madison and Makayla Dreger and Kadence Howes to whom she was known as Nana; her sisters Maureen, Lynn, and Nancy; and her brother Gary. She is now with her mother, father, and sister Judy Bradfield.

Lorraine graduated from Henry Wisewood in Calgary, Alberta in 1973.

Lorraine loved to bake, paint, go fishing with her husband, garden, and read, but cooking and baking were her passions. She was always thinking of something new to bake or cook, anything from sweets to dinners. Lorraine always wanted to be included in every activity that was going on with her children and her grandchildren. If she couldn’t make it, she would be proud anyways and find ways to celebrate with cake no matter what it was. Every year when a big holiday would come, she would always want to decorate and make everything look nice. She would go out and buy a bunch of plants to grow vegetables and flowers. She would want her girls (granddaughters) to help maintain the plants as they grew. At Christmas time she had numerous decorations to fill her house and later her space in the basement. She loved driving around to look at seasonal decorations and gather ideas. Lorraine always wanted to be going somewhere and doing something when she was able to, from visiting the zoo to car rides to farmer’s markets, flower nurseries, and Christmas markets; it didn’t matter where. She was loving, kind, caring, stubborn, and strong-willed until the end. When her body was giving up her mind didn’t want to. She always said she had the body of an old woman but the mind of a 20 year old.

We will miss her smiles, her laughter, her baking, and her company.
