Lorinda Dorothy McHardy passed away peacefully on Friday December 9, 2022, at Southwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta with her husband John by her side.
Lorinda is survived by John, her husband of 27 years, and son Connor Liam. She was preceded by her parents Morris and Judith. Lorinda was a loving wife, mother, and friend to everyone.
Lorinda leaves behind a void that will be hard to fill. She provided her family and friends with a lifetime of happiness and beautiful memories. She was the strongest person her family has had the privilege to know always fighting for whatever cause she was passionate about. Lorinda battled a lifetime of chronic illness, but never let it stop her from living her life to the fullest. Adventurous in spirit, Lorinda enjoyed multiple outdoor pursuits from hiking, gravel biking, cross country running and snow shoeing.
Lorinda was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and spent much of her childhood in Delisle, Saskatchewan close to the family farm. She met the love of her life John in Saskatoon, moved to Calgary, Alberta and was married shortly afterwards. Lorinda received a diploma from Mount Royal University in Massage Therapy and continued to work as a massage therapist until the birth of her son Connor.
A devoted mother, Lorinda deeply loved her son Connor and made herself available to help coach or manage his sports teams, help out in classroom settings, or simply be there for him when he needed someone to confide in.
At Lorinda’s request no formal service is planned, but a celebration of life will take place in the spring. Anyone wishing to make a charitable donation in Lorinda’s memory can make it to Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
