Obituary for Loreta Barona Arciso (Barona)

LORETA BARONA ARCISO
May 18, 1933 - April 25, 2021

Loreta Arciso, passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at the age of 87 years.

Loreta “Dumanyag” Pe Benito Barona was born in Lacub, Abra, Philippines. She was a very passionate and well respected foster parent and mentor in Lacub and Bangued, Abra. In 1962, she patiently served as an Elementary School Teacher in Bontoc, Mountain province. Then she was transferred to teach in Tineg, Abra. When she was assigned to Tubo,Abra she met and soon married Ariston, a quiet and responsible gentleman. Finally, she was transferred back to her hometown in Lacub, Abra to teach until she retired in 1990.

On July 22nd, 2003, together with her Kind and Loving husband Ariston, they moved to Canada. During her time in Canada, she was always there teaching, caring for and playing with her three granddaughters, Kloe "Tikgey", Erin “Ingguatan” and Nesrianne “Lucing". She enjoyed nature, sightseeing and hiking in the Kananaskis Country. She also loved camping during the summer, especially when there was a fire pit where she loved to cook fish and toast marshmallows surrounded by family and friends. She always looked forward to attend the Calgary Stampede, the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth."

She was a very God Fearing, Generous, Kind Hearted, Loving person, and was always there to help others in their time of struggles and needs. She passionately devoted all her Life by sharing the meaning of Life as a Foster Parent for anyone needing a warm and nurturing Home.

Loreta was a faithful wife of Ariston Arciso from their happy marriage of 50 years from 1971-2021; loving mother of Edna (Swaty)Arciso- Flores of Calgary and Eleanor (Edwin) Arciso of the Philippines. She will also be lovingly remembered by many children of whom she fostered like Betty (Marcos) Molina Balcanao, Mike (Lanie) Ortega, Edgardo (Rosenda) Molina, Noel Barona and Lotlot (Jep) Barona Felipe; her grandchildren, Kloe, Erin & Nesrianne Flores, Desler & Kyleen Arciso, Aj, Cj, Borjun & Kazee Felipe; and siblings, Josefina Barona Smutko of Calgary and Agueda Barona Canon of Calgary. Loreta was predeceased by her son, Bon Jovi Arciso; her parents, Ama Aggabao & Inna Ingguatan; sisters Martina, Maximina, Sister Luthgarda OSA, and her brothers, Victorino, Aurelio, Claro, Ceasar, Leo and Rodolfo.

A visitation will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) on Monday, May 3, 2021 from 7:00 pm – 7:30 pm. Due to Covid regulations, a maximum of 20 people are allowed at one time for the viewing. You must RSVP in the link below with your name and telephone number for a set time slot in order to attend the visitation. Please note that you must come during your scheduled time period, and you will not be allowed in the building earlier or later than your time slot as per AHS regulations.

A private Funeral Mass will be held at Ascension Catholic Parish (1100 Berkshire Blvd NW on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at noon.
