Obituary for Lee McCormick

Leland McCormick
June 3, 1935 - August 21, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Leland (Lee) Holmes McCormick on August 21st, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Carmen; his 2 children, James (Gloria) and Rosa; grandchildren, Joel and Jenna; numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Mexico. He was pre-deceased by his father, Joseph Patterson McCormick and his mother, Ethel Pearl McCormick (nee Steelman); sister, Charmeon; brothers, Joe, Bill and Don.

Lee was born June 3rd, 1935 and grew up on the McCormick homestead near Byemoor, Alberta. He attended school in Byemoor, Castor, and Red Deer. Once he finished high school, he started his career in the oilfield, travelling with his work to many worldwide destinations including the USA, Mexico, Venezuela, England, Scotland, Colombia and Abu Dhabi. He met his wife while working in Mexico and made lifelong friends wherever he traveled.

Lee enjoyed spending time with loved ones, golfing, curling, water skiing, wine making, being the local handyman and woodworking. He always looked forward to socializing with friends both in Arizona and at home. His storytelling and love of a good joke was legendary.

He will be laid to rest with his family at Wolf Hill Cemetery near Byemoor, Alberta.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion or the Canadian Lung Association.
