Leesa Gail Dolynchuk
September 15th, 1981 - May 24th, 2019
In the comfort of her own home Leesa Dolynchuk passed away Friday, May 24th, 2019, with her mother and her loving husband by her side. Her courageous fight with cancer came to an end at the age of 37.
Leesa was born in Grande Cache, AB. She graduated from Ron Pettigrew Christian School in Dawson Creek, BC. Following graduation in 1999 she moved to Camrose, AB and attended Augustana University College. Leesa moved to Lloydminster, AB in 2003, and was employed with Gibson Energy. Leesa and Peter were married on May 23, 2004. They moved to Calgary in 2005 and she continued working for Gibson until the birth of their first child. Leesa was a devoted wife and a stay-at-home mom to their two children Ayla and Izak, and her fur baby Olive. She loved people and made numerous friendships by showing hospitality, generosity and kindness. Leesa enjoyed walking, running, hiking, camping and vacationing with family and friends. She played an active role in her community and volunteered at local schools and organized many neighborhood events. Throughout the years she undertook a number of home-based businesses and self-employment opportunities as she loved to keep busy. Shortly before her illness, she was hired with the Calgary Board of Education where she planned to set roots for the long term. Leesa enjoyed socializing and made an impact on the friends and family in her life. She could fill the room with laughter with her quick wit, sassy personality, and beautiful smile. Leesa was a gifted writer as she showcased in her blogs. Some of her favorite past times were paint nights, reading, cruising in her car, cross-stitch, attending concerts, shopping and hanging out with her many friends for coffee dates and wine nights. Leesa loved music, she played piano, guitar and sang from an early age. She had a beautiful voice and now she’s joined the angels forever singing in her heavenly home. Leesa had a zest for life and will leave a void on this earth, and in our hearts, which no one can fill.
Leesa will be forever loved and remembered by her husband Peter, of 15 years; daughter Ayla; son Izak; mother Gail (Jim) Ratzlaff; father Brian Erickson; siblings James Erickson, Cory (Tina) Erickson and Angela (Chad) Henry; step-siblings Jenea Ratzlaff, Raenell Ratzlaff and Leorah Ratzlaff; grandfather Gordon Erickson; grandmother Mary Ratzlaff; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gary and Joan Dolynchuk; sisters-in-law Kathryn (Peter) Spencer, Heather (Jason) Maki and Laura Dolynchuk, grandfather Sydney (Sherry) Hall; as well as a wide circle of family and friends.
She was predeceased by her grandparents Elsie and Walter Posein and Edna Erickson.
A Celebration of Leesa’s Life will be held at RockPointe Bearspaw Church (255024 Lochend Road, Calgary, AB) on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 10:00 am.
