Obituary for Laurie Jean Hughes

Laurie Jean Hughes

It is with extreme sadness that the brother, sister and stepdaughter of Laurie Jean announce her passing on November 2, at 5:55 am, at South Health Campus Hospital ICU, in Calgary.

Laurie Jean (nee Cudby) was born on September 15, 1960 in Lethbridge Alberta. Predeceased by her parents Vivian and Ernest E. Cudby of Calgary, and her soul mate, best friend, and husband, Ron Hughes of 25 years, she will be missed dearly.
Laurie and (Ron) moved to Lake McGregor Country Estates, Alberta, just east of Vulcan, in August of 2003.

Laurie’s favourite activities were baking, sewing, gardening and especially her absolute favourite was, making new friends over a glass of red wine!

She loved her fur-babies (Zoe, 15 and Gracie, 13) and spoiled them to bits. Laurie’s fur friends are in good hands.
Throughout her life, Laurie, along with her family and friends, travelled to various parts of the globe and loved vacationing in Mexico, walking the beaches.

Laurie will be forever remembered. Loving memories of her will be cherished by her family, life-long friends, neighbours and relatives, in Canada, United States and New Zealand.

No service will be held. Donations may be made to the Tom Baker Cancer Center, as that is what Laurie would have chosen.
Special “thank you” to the ICU Team at the South Health Campus, for their exceptional care and compassion, and to Choice Memorial, Calgary.
