October 1, 1970 – April 7, 2023
It is with deep sadness and surprise that we announce the passing of our daughter, sister, and mother, Kira Lee Samol-Riedy of Calgary, Alberta at the young age of 52. Kira passed away suddenly on Friday, April 7, 2023, in Calgary. She is survived by her parents Ronald and Mildred Samol, her brothers Shawn and Ryan Samol and her children Christian and Sienna Riedy. Kira was born in Williams Lake, BC and raised in Kelowna. She graduated from Kelowna Secondary School and proudly received her teaching degree with the University of British Columbia at the Kelowna campus. Growing up, Kira was an accomplished athlete in field hockey and was an honours student throughout her scholastic career.
A very well-read individual, she never turned down a good book. Kira was also a big lover of animals and very much an outdoors person…. she loved her camping, kayaking and all watersports. As a single mom, she did everything possible for her two children, they were the light of her life and she loved them so very much. Their success in life is a tribute to her love for them. Her family, friends and anyone that knew her will miss her very much.
