Obituary for Kenneth Ross Reid

Ken Reid
October 2nd, 1966 - Sunday, April 16th, 2023

Ken Reid passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 16, 2023, with his family by his side. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years, Andrea Reid; children Jordan (Finn Jacobson) Reid and Jacob (Emily) Reid; father Ross Reid; sister Rhonda Durand; and many more family and friends. He was predeceased by his mother, Grace Reid. Ken was born in Estevan, Saskatchewan. His family spent time in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario before making Calgary their home.

Ken was athletic and grew up playing many sports until he finally settled on football. This took him to Saskatoon where he played for the Saskatoon Hilltops. Winning the national championship in 1985 was a highlight for him. There he met the love of his life Andrea and they were married in 1990, making Calgary their home.

Family was very important to Ken. He loved spending time with his children and encouraging them. He spent countless hours driving them to sports and planning the next family road trip or bike ride.

Ken pastored at various churches throughout Calgary. Encouraging people in their faith was very natural for him. He was an accomplished guitar player, and he loved leading people in worship.

In most recent years Ken was a partner in South Peak Roofing and Exteriors. He enjoyed learning about business and, most importantly, meeting new people and building relationships. He loved his team and was very proud of their success.

Ken was a gentle giant who touched many lives and had a profound impact on others. He was a man of great faith and even during his illness the past two years he showed incredible grace and courage.

On behalf of Ken and our family, we would like to thank everyone who came alongside us and have supported us along this journey. This includes Pat Silva and the incredible Palliative Home Care team.

A Celebration of Life will take place for Ken at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at First Assembly Church (6031 Elbow Dr. SW, Calgary, AB).

Memorial Donations can be made to the ALS Society.
