Obituary for Kenneth "Ken" John Dyck

Kenneth John Dyck was born in Abbotsford BC on February 22, 1947 to John & Agatha Dyck. His early years were spent on the family farm in Arnold, BC, before moving to Vancouver at age 4. During high school, Ken committed his life to Jesus and was determined to serve his Lord for the rest of his life.
From 1965 to 1968, Ken attended Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Saskatchewan. Ken married in 1969 and raised 2 sons: Miles, Rhome; and 1 daughter Kara-Reine. This marriage ended in 2004.
Ken was a student at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby BC, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in History in 1972. During this period, he was actively involved with the Willingdon MB Church, serving as Youth Pastor.
In 1972, the family moved to Fresno California where Ken was enrolled at the MB Biblical Seminary. During the years at seminary, Ken was actively involved in music ministry at Reedley MB churches. In 1973 he pastored the Desert View Bible Church in California City. Ken graduated from seminary in 1975 with a Doctor of Ministries degree.
In 1975, the family relocated to Saskatoon, where Ken became pastor of Nutana MB Church. During his 9 years in leadership, a new 625-seat sanctuary was built to meet the demand of growing membership. In 1983, the name of the church was changed to Forest Grove Community Church. In addition to pastoring a growing congregation, Ken was also moderator of the Conference of MB churches for Saskatchewan.
In 1984-1987, Ken took a new opportunity, founding the National Capital Community Church in Ottawa, ON. and then moved to BC. (He also provided support to MB church planting in the province of Quebec). While in Ottawa, Ken began “Myroka” operations. This was an innovative company to create cell phone stands for vehicles.
In the years following relocation back to Vancouver, Ken was pastor of 10th Avenue Alliance Church. Ken then founded the West Vancouver Bible Church where he served from 1992-1996.
In 1996 Ken made the decision to leave the ministry, to focus on full time Myroka business operations based in North Vancouver. In 2000, the family and the business relocated to Calgary Alberta; with the company changing to “Precision Mounting Technologies”. This company was a leading provider of in-vehicle mobile mounting solutions for public safety, utility, and government clients. As president, Ken travelled extensively, particularly in the USA.
Over many years, Ken and his company were significant supporters and contributors to Stillwood Camp near Chilliwack BC. This includes funding a cottage in 2003 as a memorial for his father, John Dyck, and the choir he conducted (the Ambassadors).
In July 2006, Ken married Xiaojing Li (Sally) in Calgary. Together with Sally’s daughter Casey, the new family eventually settled in Chestermere Alberta.
By 2012, the company was sold to allow Ken to retire. This allowed time for Ken & Sally to focus on farming for the next few years, which they both enjoyed. In 2017, Casey married Andrew Fewell in Calgary.
In 2019, Ken and Sally decided to build a new home near Vernon B.C. It was at this building site that Ken passed away of a heart attack on October 18, 2019; aged 72. Ken was dearly loved, and will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the chapel at Centre Street Church (3900-2nd Street NE) on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 1:30 pm. Please use the West doors.
