Obituary

KENNETH EUGENE DRIVER
November 23, 1947 – December 27, 2019

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend

Ken is survived by his wife of 49 years Vicky, daughter, Susan Porter, grandchildren, Alex, Levi and Tess Porter. Son in law Milt Porter.

Brother - Brian (Bonnie) Driver, Sister - Wendy Stephenson. Predeceased by parents Lorne and Clara Driver and sister Debbie Beres.

Ken will be missed by many nieces and nephews, and his extended family Sheila Fahl-Corcoran (Calvin) and Egidio Fahl.

There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humour (Charles Dickens).

“Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us every day,
Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.”

Ken was born in Drumheller, AB. He moved a few times in his life, Wainwright, Calgary, Namaka (Strathmore) and back to Calgary. Ken was a talented auto body mechanic and painter. He worked at Export Auto Body, R&G Auto Body, Brentwood Auto Body and finally the best of them all Driver’s Collision – “where we meet the nicest people by accident”.

Whether you had known Ken forever, or were just meeting him, he never held back on his crazy sense of humour and contagious laugh. It would not have mattered if you were a police officer or the attendant at Tim’s drive through, Ken’s antics would have everyone in stitches.

Next to his love for work and family, his animal friends were priority. Joe, Muffy and Dexter always rode shotgun – Ken never missed an opportunity to go to the dog park. He never missed stopping at a pet store, almost weekly – especially if there was a bird he could talk to and hold. He often came home with a surprise - a stray cat that needed a family – the numbers never exceed five – but indeed Ken’s house was the cat house.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken’s memory to ARTS Senior Animal Rescue

A Eternal Memory - ... Life is Not the Same Without You

The sun still rises in the east
and darkness falls at night
but nothing now seems quite the same
each day is not as bright

The birds still sing, the flowers grow
the breeze still whispers, too
but it will never, ever be
the same world without you

It's so sad that you had to go
your leaving caused such pain
but you were so very special
and earth's loss is heaven's gain
