Obituary for Keith Ian Marion

Keith Ian Marion
July 6, 1956 – January 20, 2021

It is with sadness and much love we honour the passing of Keith Ian Marion at the age of 64 in Calgary, Alberta. Keith is survived by three sisters, Laura, Enid and Joyce (Lalonde); one brother, Doug; five nephews, three nieces and six grandnephews and grandnieces.

Keith deeply loved his family and friends. He was devoted to his mother and cared for her during her waning years. Keith loved all the arts, in particular music and dance. A graduate of the University of Calgary (BFA, 1981), he was instrumental in the management of the notorious Ten Foot Henry’s Performance Appreciation Society in the 1980’s, an alternate music and performing arts space showcasing local Calgary talent. He worked for the City of Calgary in special events and assisted in innumerable community events, including the medal ceremonies for the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics and Stampede activities. He was particularly proud of his involvement in a 1989 tour to entertain the UN Peacekeeping Forces in the Middle East. Keith also worked in the film industry for decades, including working on numerous films and series, such as Open Range and Heartland.

Keith was known for his quick, incisive and hilarious wit, his creativity, his deep and long-lasting friendships, and his passion for cooking (oh those cinnamon buns!). Keith loved to travel and fulfilled a dream of exploring his Scottish roots in Scotland two years ago.

Our heartfelt thanks to the caregivers at the South Health Campus, Rapid Access Unit, for helping to ease Keith’s final days.

Fly free in love dear brother. We raise a glass of scotch to you.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Keith’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Keith, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
