Obituary for Kasandra Van Bryce (Weiner)

Kasandra Van Bryce

Kasandra Van Bryce (Hannelore Linde) was a deeply caring and loving person. She left this world on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at age 70. Born to Käthe and Herbert Weiner on May 17, 1950 in Nordstemmen, Germany.

She is survived by five of her siblings, Wolfgang, Roland, Christiane, Sabine and Heintje. Kasandra was predeceased by her parents and brother, Peter.

Kasandra immigrated to Canada in the late 70’s or early 80’s in search of new opportunities. She loved Canada dearly but always remained connected with her German roots. She was very involved in the German community and made many friends while managing the Dining Room at the German Canadian Club. Customer service was her passion. Patrons would visit the places she worked often just to be in her presence. She could make anyone feel welcome with her infectious sweet laugh and bubbly personality. Her talkative gregarious nature made it easy for her to make friends.

Kasandra was involved in numerous ventures in the Calgary community. She will be remembered managing at the Silver Saddle Dining Lounge in Inglewood and the food establishments at the former Lindsay Park recreation facility. She also worked at the Rustic Sourdough Bakery and Deli on 17th avenue and for Great Events Catering.

Her love of people, big hearted, gentle, caring nature went well with her passion to care for seniors and she always put others before herself. Later in life, she trained to become a nurse’s aid and served as a companion to elderly people. Kasandra did not have kids but loved children and was always willing to help raise the children of those closest to her.

She loved bold colours and jewellery and with her big personality she could pull it off. She was the life of the party- making jokes, laughing, sharing food and friendship. She loved her trips back to Germany and always wanted to go back one last time.

Thank you to all of the close friends who were there for her and helped in many ways. Thank you to the caregivers at the Southwood Care Centre. She will truly be missed. A Celebration of Kasandra’s Life will be held in the spring when restrictions allow.
