Obituary for Karl Heinz Jipp

Karl Heinz Jipp

Karl Heinz Jipp passed away peacefully on Monday, May 10, 2021, after celebrating his 88th birthday three days earlier at the Brentwood Care Centre in Calgary, Alberta, where he had resided for the past number of months.

Karl Jipp was born in Rehthorn, Germany on May 7th, 1933, spending his formative years in his homeland, where he trained in Horticulture and became a Journeyman Gardener at a very young age.

In 1953, along with his parents (Karl and Tomma) and his three younger sisters (Anne, Ingrid, and Heidi), the Jipp family immigrated to Alberta, Canada, where Karl began working in the town of Redcliffe, working as a Gardener for the family that had sponsored their relocation to Canada.

Shortly thereafter, Karl and his father (remember… same first name) started their own landscaping business in Calgary ("Karl Jipp & Son") which he continued to operate for a number of years after his own father's passing early in the seventies, before deciding to concentrate on his regular paid employment at the local fertilizer plant. Throughout his life, he never lost his love of gardening and his very green thumb.

Karl was known as a loving, kind, hardworking, and gentle soul who deeply cared for and faithfully provided for his family. Karl will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Julia, whom he married in October of 1959, as well as his four children, Gary (Michelle), Elizabeth (Harold), David (Barbie-Siu), and Tom (Susanne). Karl leaves behind his oldest sister, Anne, as well as many other family members including grandchildren, great-grandchildren, along with many nephews, and nieces and their respective families. Karl was predeceased by his two youngest sisters, Ingrid and Heidi. He will be missed by many and fondly remembered by just as many.

Karl was a faithful Christian with a cheerful outlook on life. He was an avid reader and especially enjoyed theological books. He could always be counted on to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. He is in a better place now where there is no longer any pain.

A special thank you to staff from the Brentwood Care Centre. A private Celebration of Karl’s Life will be held at a later date. To view and share photos, condolences and memories of Karl, please visit www.choicememorial.com.
