Obituary for Joyce Evelyne Knight (Haddad)

Joyce Knight

Joyce Evelyne Knight (nee Haddad) age 83 of Calgary passed away peacefully in the early morning of Oct 4, 2019.

Mom was born Jan 7,1936 in Winnipeg to John and Maria Haddad of Winnipeg and this is where she spent her childhood. In July 1953 she married Jerry Knight and started a family. They moved to Calgary in 1960. Mom always had a love of horticulture, working in greenhouses and later had her own landscaping company. She also enjoyed being on a weekly local tv horticultural show. Mom loved cooking for her family and others and in her mid 40’s, she attended SAIT and received her red seal cooking papers. For the next 8 years she enjoyed cooking in a number of senior centers in Calgary. Then at the age of 59 she surprised the family by buying an acreage near Golden BC where she spent the next 23 years living in paradise!! During this time she was busy making jackets, quilts, attending craft shows and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the mountains. Mom also loved to travel, whether by plane or her motorhome.

Mom always said her biggest achievement was raising her 5 kids. She was always proud of us and all our accomplishments. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mom passed away peacefully on Oct 4, 2019 at Cedar Villas in Calgary. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.

Mom was predeceased by her parents John and Maria Haddad, her brother Bob, and her infant children Debbie and Chris, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and friends. She is survived by her children, Donna (Dennis) Rayner, Dave (Lynn) Knight, Tom (Leonie) Knight, Ted (Linda) Knight, John Knight (Sharon LaClare), 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Our family we would like to express our gratitude to Cedar Villas for the loving care she received in her last 6 months of life.

Memorial Service will be held at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE) on Friday, October 11, 2019 at 1:00 pm. To view and share photos, condolences and stories of Joyce, visit www.choicememorial.com.
