Obituary for Joseph "Joe" Bailey

Joseph “Joe” Raymond Bailey passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2024. He was born in Coachman’s Cove, Newfoundland on December 28, 1945. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Violet “Vi” Bailey; his daughters, Jennifer (Chris) Slight and Kristin Jarvis; as well, as his grandsons, Oliver and Thomas Slight.

Joe graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Technical University of Nova Scotia as an Electrical Engineer; he achieved Sr. Vice President at Toronto Hydro before retiring in 2006. Several years later, Joe and Vi moved to Calgary, Alberta to be closer to their family. Joe instantly fell in love with his new home, Alberta. He loved getting together for family dinners, sitting out on the deck, sharing stories and telling jokes. He was an avid woodworker and a talented nature photographer.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Margaret (Bernard) Madden, Madonna Bailey, Mary Bailey; and his brother, Christopher (Bonnie) Bailey. He is predeceased by his parents, Peter and Mollie Bailey; and his sister, Clara (Brian) Sparkes. Joe will be forever remembered and held close to the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
