Joe also had a daughter, Diane, from his first marriage.

Josef was born to Edward and Pauline Hadbawnik. He grew up in Romania until the family was evacuated to Germany in 1946. They immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1948.

As a young man, Joe moved to the Yukon and worked in the mines. When he returned to Montreal, he married and became a father to Diane.
In 1974, Joe relocated to Calgary, Alberta. He worked in steel manufacturing, proud to point out his work in the Calgary International Airport. Joe met Anneliese through a hiking club, and they married in 1990. Joe was welcomed into his second family and he and Anneliese spent many happy years together.

Joe was a man of many interests. He loved the outdoors - camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. He also studied videography. Joe loved to cook and when he joined Anneliese’s family, he was renowned for his pizza making skills.

In his later years, Joe was diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s disease. The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff of Carewest Sarcee for their care and support. A special thank you to Dr. Ksienski and the staff at Unit 1.
The family is also grateful for the support of Reverend Kevin Scott in Joe’s last days.

Joe was a kind and gentle man who never had a bad word to say about anyone.
His smile and sparking blue eyes will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
