Jonathan (Jonny) Cooper-Carty
April 27th, 1986 - Monday, May 23rd, 2022
Jonathan, husband of Vanessa Carty, passed away at his home in Calgary on May 23, 2022 at the age of 36 years.
Left to mourn are Jon’s parent’s Sheila, Steve (Manga), and George (Heather). Also left to mourn are Jon’s sister Lezlie (Jeremy); brothers Max, Shawn (Amy), Jason, Landon, and Jeremiah; grandmother Joan Carty; mother in law Janneth Scheuer; father in law Bernd Scheuer; brother in law Mark Scheuer (Roxy); sister in laws Keziah Labe and Alexandra Scheuer; nieces and nephews Kaycie, Aurora, Damien, and Haily; and countless, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Jon was predeceased by his grandfathers Frederick (Fred) Carty and Raymond Cooper; grandmother Kathleen Cooper; uncles Luke Cooper and Edward (Al) Cooper; aunt Blanche and aunt Bonnie; nan Velma Rodgers, and pop Tom Rodgers.
Jon was born in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, England, and came to Canada at the age of 1. He lived in Goose Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador, where he started working as a roofer with his uncles at the age of 17. Jon went to the Philippines to live with his father at age 25, where he met his beautiful wife Vanessa. Jon and Vanessa travelled to many places around the world, most recently visiting Hawaii where they swam with the sharks and were up bright and early to surf the waves. Jon was a great artist, and spent many years as a tattoo artist here in Calgary.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm on Saturday, May 28th, 2022 at Choice Memorial. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 29th, 2022 at Choice Memorial (105-4715 13th Street NE, Calgary, AB).
