Obituary for John Maxwell Rhyno

Rhyno, John Maxwell
February 13, 1961 - July 4,2020

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce that John Maxwell Rhyno passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at the age of 59.

John enjoyed working and being in front of a classroom as an instructor at the MacPhail of Energy (SAIT) up until his cancer diagnosis back in May of 2019.

As a family, we would like to go and cheer on the Ladies and Men's basketball Teams at SAIT. Go Trojans! We also would go to some of the hockey games, but John really liked to watch basketball.

John enjoyed going on day trips to Banff and Lake Louise for hikes and picnics. He also conquered his fear of heights by climbing sulfur mountain in Banff one year with his kids, Sydney and Robert. He also loved to listen to music and taught himself how to play the guitar. He loved to listen and play the Blues.

John is survived by and will be deeply missed by his wife, Merrill; children, Sydney and Robert; sister, Paula Crossman (who presently resides in Ottawa); brother-in-law, Robert Splane; niece, Quinn; nephew, Kerrigan; his beloved dog, Darlington and his extended family, Devon, Audrina, Summer and Braxton.

A Celebration of John's Life will be held at a future date.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer Center for all of there support and dedication to help cancer patients through what can be a very difficult time in someone's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to the Tom Baker Cancer Centre through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
