John Jarvis
May 4th, 1940 - Wednesday, August 28th, 2019
John Joseph (“JJ”) Jarvis passed away peacefully on August 28, 2019 at the age of 79.
John is survived by his children Dawn Lavigne (Lloyd), Trevor Jarvis (Katie), and Calvin Jarvis; beloved granddaughter; partner Ada Sawchuk; sisters Kay Pittman (Jim), Maureen Byrne, Elaine Jones (Dave); brother George Jarvis (Bernice); and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary, his brother in law Ed Byrne, and his sister Marie. John was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and will be deeply missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
John was born on May 4, 1940 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and lived there until he enlisted in the military at the age of 17. He was a decorated, 20-year military veteran in the RC Signals Corp., and then went on to have a successful residential real estate career, managing several Calgary offices.
A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at the The Royal Canadian Legion #264 (1918 Kensington Road NW, Calgary) on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 2:30 – 6:30 with food, drinks, and stories.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends are encouraged to make a memorial donation to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch Poppy Fund in Calgary.
