Joaquin Chu
May 2nd, 1933 - August 19th, 2019
Joaquin Chan Chu, born in Canton, China, on May 2, 1933 went home to be with the Lord on August 19, 2019. Joaquin lived most of his life in the Philippines before coming to Canada in 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lily Chiu Chu, their five children and their spouses, Giselle and Nathanael Ong, Frances Chu, Joy and Robert Luke, Edwin and Helen Chu, and Herbert and Christine Chu, 11 grandchildren and one grand daughter-in-law.
Joaquin was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. Since coming to Calgary, Joaquin and Lily attended Calgary Christian Assembly. He enjoyed reading the Bible, singing hymns and praying with his wife daily.
He loved to share with his family that GOD IS LOVE. During his illness, he always reminded them of God’s word written in Psalms 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God.”
Joaquin was a devoted husband, supportive and encouraging father, and a very tender and loving grandfather. The three most appropriate words that describe Joaquin’s life are QUIET, GENTLE and HUMBLE.
A Memorial Service will be held at Calgary Christian Assembly (2504 16th Street SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 3R3) on Friday, August 23, 2019, at 2:00 PM .
