Janet (Jan) Mary Mather
January 30th, 1951 (Howick, Quebec) - August 29th, 2019 (Calgary, Alberta)
Janet (Jan) Mather (nee Holmes), beloved wife of Cameron Mather of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29th, 2019. Her son Tyler was by her side at the Southwood Hospice.
Jan is survived by her husband Cam and son Tyler, brother Wendell Holmes (Cathy), step-daughters Michele McIntosh (Doug), Chris Dumont (Mark), grandchildren Sydney and Spencer Dumont, Bryanne McIntosh, sister- in- law Jane Holmes, nieces, and numerous friends. Jan was predeceased by her brother Roger Holmes.
Jan enjoyed gardening, antiques, and was an avid book reader. She loved playing cards and watching curling, and was a devoted Calgary Flames fan. Jan’s passion was her antique magazine, which she was the owner, editor, and publisher of Discovering Antiques for 18 years. She treasured the traveling and conversations with her clientele, and distributing her magazines to various antique stores throughout Alberta.
Jan will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
In keeping with Jan’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private Celebration of Life has been held by her family.
