Janet (Jan) Mary Mather
January 30th, 1951 (Howick, Quebec) - August 29th, 2019 (Calgary, Alberta)

Janet (Jan) Mather (nee Holmes), beloved wife of Cameron Mather of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 29th, 2019. Her son Tyler was by her side at the Southwood Hospice.

Jan is survived by her husband Cam and son Tyler, brother Wendell Holmes (Cathy), step-daughters Michele McIntosh (Doug), Chris Dumont (Mark), grandchildren Sydney and Spencer Dumont, Bryanne McIntosh, sister- in- law Jane Holmes, nieces, and numerous friends. Jan was predeceased by her brother Roger Holmes.

Jan enjoyed gardening, antiques, and was an avid book reader. She loved playing cards and watching curling, and was a devoted Calgary Flames fan. Jan’s passion was her antique magazine, which she was the owner, editor, and publisher of Discovering Antiques for 18 years. She treasured the traveling and conversations with her clientele, and distributing her magazines to various antique stores throughout Alberta.

Jan will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

In keeping with Jan’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. A private Celebration of Life has been held by her family.

Our deepest condolences to Jan's family.

We were very pleased when she first introduced herself to us when our store was freshly open in Edmonton. She was friendly and open to speak with. We really appreciated her genuine interest in antiques and the local antiques scene, and we really appreciated the great work she did for antiques collecting through the Discovering Antiques magazine.

Debra and Stefan (Ibon Antiques, Edmonton).
