Obituary for Ivan William Lang
LANG, Ivan William
June 10, 1934 – March 2, 2022
Ivan William Lang was born on June 10, 1934, to Katie and Andrew Lang. He passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Ivan spent his youth and school days in the Olds area. His father passed away when Ivan was 15, so very early in life, he was working to help his mother and siblings.
Ivan came to Calgary when he was 19, working for his uncle, then later at the City of Calgary, eventually with one of his good friends and partner, Merv Goodman, managing Bowness Park.
He met his wife, Margaret in 1953 and they married in 1955. He was a loving husband, proud father, and a doting grandfather and great grandfather. Ivan was so proud of his boys, Kelly (Tammy) and Cam (Erin) and his beloved grandkids, Corrine, Candice, James, Connor, Hali and his great grandkids Chase and Jake.
Ivan made friends wherever he worked and enjoyed life. He met many people and would became instant friends. Ivan serviced the Lord in his church with commitment, even in small tasks. He was a caring friend and found something good in everyone. He never really retired but found ways to stay busy and active. His children certainly know that his greatest treasure was his “darling boys”, his grand kids and great grand kids.
Ivan leaves a legacy of devotion to the Lord, his family, and his friends. He will be missed here on Earth, but it is Heaven’s gain.
