Obituary for Hoe Wong
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Hoe Wong, who left us on Thursday, April 6th, 2023.
Hoe Wong was born on July 1, 1929, in Canton, China. As a toddler he moved to Vietnam with his family. At the age of twenty he married to his beloved wife, Hao Bang Trieu. Together, they have nine children (John, Quang, Vinh, Hung, Tai, Jim, Wendy, Angela and Ruby Wong), 20 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Hoe was a successful businessman before immigrating to Canada in 1984. He loved travelling and seeing all the wonders of the world, taking many pictures and recording videos of his journeys. He was an affable person and always had big smiles on his face.
Some of his favourite hobbies included singing and playing mandolin.
He contributed much of his time to the Calgary Chinese Elderly Citizens’ Association and volunteered to work on many of the programs offered by the Chinese community.
While we are heartbroken by his loss, we take comfort in knowing that Hoe is at peace. He will always be remembered and loved by all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren forever.
The Wong family would like to extend their gratitude to Unit 47 at the Rockyview General Hospital, and Dulcina hospice. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Choice Memorial (105, 4715 – 13 Street NE, Calgary, AB).
