Hendrikje "Penny" Peters (nee Wiersema)
March 4th, 1938 - Thursday, July 25th, 2019
It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our wonderful beloved
mother Penny at the age of 81 years after a short stay at foothills hospital in Calgary.
She was a talented, loving person with a generous heart, and a true friend with a strong faith
that has carried her through some tough times. She has been a rock, and very loving and
supportive to family and friends.
Penny was predeceased by her husband Ben Peters in 2008 which left her with a heartache
that could not be healed.
She was predeceased by grandson Jordan (27 months) in 1986, daughter-in-law Sherry
in 2016, as well as three siblings Grace, Ge, and Jo.
Left to cherish Penny's memory are her children, Margaret (Jayson), Rick (Gail), Melody
(Glen), Yvonne (Al), Ben (Sherry), and Christina (Darin), sisters Beatrix and Gerrie, and brother Henry. She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren
Our mom emigrated to Canada from the Netherlands in 1954 with her family. She married
the love of her life when she was just 18. They were married for almost 52 years, and
raised six children.
Penny had many artistic talents, including knitting, sewing, crocheting, ceramics, and
painting, but her true passion in life was gardening.
Her impact on her family and friends will always be felt and dearly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held on September 28th, 2019 in Calgary.
