Obituary for Harvey Maurice Doyle

DOYLE, Harvey Maurice

June 18, 1930 - Dodsland, Saskatchewan
January 8, 2020 – Calgary, Alberta

Harvey Doyle left us for his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at the age of 89.

His memory and impact will lovingly live on in his children Maureen Doyle, Kevin (Yolande Leduc) Doyle, Clarice (Darrell) Fowler and Neville (Kari) Doyle; four grandsons, Lawrien Schock, Dallas (Carissa) Fowler, Colton Fowler and Spencer Fowler; great granddaughter, Payton Fowler and an extended circle of family and friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Jean (1963); daughter, Arlynne (2002) and his wife, Ina (2019).

The sixth of seven children born to Alice Elizabeth and William Peter Doyle, Harvey spent his first 15 years living and working on the family farm near Hoosier, SK. In 1945 the family moved to Calgary where he attended Crescent Heights High School and graduated in 1948. He decided to pursue an Engineering career and attended Oklahoma University beginning January 1949. Although Engineering demanded most of his attention, he still found time for social connection at the local church student group. It was through this group that he met Jean Basden and a relationship began which led to their marriage in June 1954.

After returning to Canada, Harvey continued his career in Petroleum Engineering and Jean spent her time caring for their home and growing family. An unexpected situation arose immediately following the birth of their fourth child, which ultimately resulted in Jean’s passing.

In time, God led Harvey to a new life partner and in May of 1965 he and Ina Davies were married. Together they had one child which completed their family of five children.

In the ensuing years, his professional career flourished at Canadian Export Gas and Oil (30+ years) followed by a number of years at Silver Bay Resources, where he retired in 1997. He loved his chosen profession and found great fulfillment in it.

Harvey felt deeply called and committed to his local church and invested time and energy where he could. He also had a passion for helping and serving individuals, often sharing truth and wisdom with others that he had gained from his own life journey, as well as aiding many in very practical ways.

For Harvey, life was about relationship - both with people and with his Heavenly Father.

As his family we will always smile at his quirky sense of humour and will be forever impacted by his character, deep faith, and unending constancy.

A Celebration of Harvey’s Life will be held at Abundant Life Church, 3325-49 Street SW Calgary, AB on Monday January 20, 2020 at 1:30pm
