Obituary for Hans Escher
Hans Escher
September 3, 1931 - July 7, 2022
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hans Escher on July 7, 2022 in Calgary, Alberta, at the age of 90. Hans leaves behind his daughter Paula, son-in-law Jim, and grandchildren Baird, Malcolm, and Sofia. Also left to mourn are his brothers Alfred and Ewald (Sharon) in Canada and sisters Hildegard and Marga in Germany. Many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins are also grieving.
Hans was a quiet, gentle man who lived through so many adventures throughout his amazing life. Emigrating from Germany in 1951, he built a life in the Springbank area, which included starting his business of Rocky View Greenhouses and raising his family. He eventually moved to the Crossfield area to expand his business and finally moved to Cochrane to live at Big Hill Lodge for the past eight years. Opa grew to love the Lodge and his extended family and friends that live there. A big thank you goes out to the amazing staff who always treated him with dignity and kindness. Thank you also to the wonderful nurses of Unit 36 at FMC for their compassion and care for him and his family.
As per Hans’ request, no funeral services will be held. Family are currently gathered together to remember, laugh, and support each other. If you’d like to remember Hans, spend some time outdoors, admire the flowers, or plant a tree.
