Obituary

Grasza, Hank

On Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019 surrounded by the love of all his ‘peeps,’ we sang our Songster home into the arms of Jesus.

Born January 23rd, 1953 in Magrath, Alberta, Hank’s family soon relocated to Calgary and made that there home. Hank worked in the eyeglass industry for close to 50 years and for all who had the pleasure to work and learn under his craftsmanship, he was the master.

For 6 1/2 years Hank audaciously lived with cancer. He chose not to fight his opponent, as he knew it was not his battle to fight but rather walked with a humble undaunted spirit, brave and valiant to the end.
He is our hero forever.
Even in death, he was a man of grace.

His humility, vulnerability and courageous spirit has done somersaults with all our hearts for he taught us to rise, stand upright and sing through some of the darkest nights. And the words, whether they were wrong or right do not matter…its in the singing.
We got to love you and it has been our greatest honor...and there are never enough words to tell what your love has done for us all.

‘ Life has its moments, under the sun moments, better then none moments…
And in the mean time and in between times you just gotta keep getting up and singing and holding hands and ‘kickin stones’ on the path ahead…’ -Hank

Was sorry to hear about my friend Hank passing on.I knew Hank from working at Crown Optical and Trattner Optical and he was one of the nicest guys in life I ever met.Hank always had a smile on his face when he'd come down to the lab to see us and always something witty to say.Someday we will all be together again. RIP Hank.

Hank was always singing and cracking jokes and I will always remember how he meshed South African sayings and quoted "beating your sister's cow with a stick". Not even close to the actual saying. I have a cow Pandora charm in memory of a great human being. Sing on, my friend. You were a ray of sunshine in an otherwise often dreary world. RIP, Hank 💕
