Obituary for Gregg Ernest Baragar

It is with the greatest sadness that we share the sudden passing of Gregg Ernest Baragar in the early hours of Friday, September 25th.

Gregg’s memory is survived through wife Ali (nee Schneider); sons Jackson, Braeden and Trey; sister Gail (Ramiro); brother Brent and mother-in-law Dolli Peers (Schneider). He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Shirley Baragar and both fathers-in-law Tony Schneider and Robert Peers. He is remembered through countless brothers and sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews, colleagues and friends.

Whether you knew him as a colleague, coach, or friend, Gregg had this ability to connect with people that was both quirky and real. He had an energy that few others had and brought a fresh approach to any situation. He was a dreamer, always concocting a new business plan or fun DIY project that he could do. You always knew he was up to something when that little smirk played across his face, a smirk we certainly experienced on more than one occasion. He had a passion for many things such as rugby and hockey, but his biggest passion was his family. The unconditional love he provided over the years touched many lives through his friends, and his family’s friends. Everyone was welcome in the Baragar household, day or night, and Gregg was always ready with beer in hand (at least one for you and one for him). The years of family vacations, golf trips with the buddies, and coaching were a few of Gregg’s favourite memories. Not to mention his loving dog “Babsy”.

The sudden loss of a life brings devastation that ripples across a community, but the important thing to remember is not the finite shadow of death, but the richness of one’s life. Gregg created a lasting impression on those he touched, and he would have wanted everyone he knew to go home, hug a loved one and never forget the moments, no matter how small, that make up our lives.

Funeral Service will be held at Northmount Baptist Church (451 Northmount Drive NW) on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Due to COVID-19 safety measures, the number of attendees will be limited.
