Obituary for Grace Eleanor Chapman (Carlson)

Grace Eleanor Chapman
June 1, 1938 – January 28, 2024

Grace Chapman (Carlson), passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Wife, mom, grandma (GG), great grandma, sister, aunt and friend to so many that will miss her so much. We were so lucky to have her in our lives.

Grace grew up in Hawarden, SK and near Strongfield on the farm. She was involved in many sports and loved music. She played field hockey, softball, track and field, and ice skating to name a few. Once she was finished school she went to work for the bank. Grace met the love of her life, Bill Chapman while working at the bank. They had three children, Barb, Garth and Lori.

Grace made sure their children had every opportunity to play sports, take music lessons and pursue any activity they wanted to try. She was always there supporting and cheering on her kids. Her and Bill’s support was even more evident once they had grandchildren. They drove many miles to watch Christy and Mark play ball, football, basketball, and all graduations. They went to Curtis and Amanda’s track events, dance recitals, all graduations and so much more. They watched Cody motor cross and Kyle play soccer and they made every effort to go and see all the grandchildren as often as they could. When the great grandchildren came, well the visits were spent snuggling, hugging and kissing those special young kids.

Grace’s family was the light of her life, and she was the light in our lives. Grace was an amazing cook. She made the best butter tarts, field cookies, Saskatoon berry pie, sugar cookies, shortbread cookies, Christmas cake, turkey dinners, Norwegian treats and so much more. Her garden was always beautiful with an abundance of flowers also on the deck. She made our home so very special.

She is survived by her daughter, Barb Dickson (Cam Dickson); son, Garth Chapman (Melody Chapman); daughter, Lori Forbes (Rodney Forbes); grandchildren, Christy Morrison (Dickson), (Peter Morrison), Mark Dickson (Candace Dickson), Curtis Forbes, Amanda Forbes, Ryan Wells (deceased), Kyle Wells, Cody Wells. Great grandchildren Amelia Morrison, Jake Morrison, Magnus Dickson, and Rhett Dickson. Grace is predeceased by her loving husband, Bill Chapman. They are together again.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Skudesnes Lutheran Church, Loreburn, SK.
