It’s with sad hearts we announce the sudden passing of Gordon. Left to cherish his memory are his only child, Heather Nelson (Ron); his sister, Tilly Sorenson; sister-in-law, Joan Neu; brother-in-law, Colin Campbell (Ruth); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was the living embodiment of the mechanic- inventor. Starting at age ten with a motorized bicycle and a prop driven stoneboat he continued well into his late 60’s with three full restorations of 1940 era farm tractors. No idle idea ever went “unbuilt”.
For a short time in the early ‘50s, Dad was stationed at the RCAF Air Base in London ON. Although he did not make the Air Force a career, he never lost his love of flight. A highlight of his retirement was being a part of the team at the Air Bomber Command Museum (Nanton) who rebuilt numerous plane engines including the major restoration of the Rolls-Royce Merlin.
Dad’s wit, humour and happy go lucky personality can never be replaced. We miss you already.
