Gina Louise (Blaskovits) Mackenzie
January 1, 1960 - December 7, 2022
Gina Louise (Blaskovits) Mackenzie was peacefully taken off life support on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, AB with her son, Anthony, lovingly by her side. Gina was 62 and would have celebrated her 63rd birthday at 00:02 on January 1st.
Gina is survived by her son, Anthony Morrison (llisha McCoy-Gernat); granddaughter, Zarina; step-grandson, Drusus Shanks; her mother, Margaret Blaskovits (Michael Calhoun); siblings, Diane Mathers and Robert Blaskovits (Jolene Airey); stepbrothers, Steven Calhoun (Tammy), Jeff Calhoun (Marcie), and Barry Calhoun (Jennifer); and her favourite nephew, Kelly Blaskovits (Shanley) and their children, Kayden and Rylee; Dwayne Beamish and Cash Beamish and the many other friends that were like family. She was predeceased by her father, Frank Blaskovits; brother, Darryl Blaskovits; and an infant son, Tyler Mackenzie, whom she had mourned always.
Gina was born in Edmonton, AB. She spent a very short time in Kelowna before moving to rural Westbridge BC, where she loved riding horses. During her adolescence, she moved to Calgary, where she continued to live well into her adult life. Calgary is where Gina enjoyed a career in bartending before becoming a mom to her son, Anthony. After many years, she moved to Grand Prairie, AB with Anthony, where she discovered a career in finance, as well as many friendships.
During her retirement, Gina and her cat, Char, moved to Medicine Hat, AB, where she continued to thrive in making friends she had come to cherish as family. She enjoyed gossiping over coffee, flowers and sunshine, blowing kisses to her grandchildren, and anything pertaining to her son. Her light will continue to illuminate the many hearts she has touched during her life.
Gina will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
