Obituary for Georgina Pintaric (Pavlisa)

Georgina (Durda) Pintaric of Calgary, Alberta age 77, passed away on Monday, August 29, 2022 after battling cancer for 15 months. She was born on August 3, 1945, the daughter of the late Ivan and Ljudmila (Tisljer) Pavlisa.

Georgina is survived by her daughters, Lisa and Andrea (Dominic) and grandson Dorian. She is also survived by two sisters, four brothers and their children and grandchildren along with nieces/grand nieces and nephews/grand nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.

Everyone who knew Georgina felt her generous heart and loving nature. She will be missed especially by her grandson Dorian, whom she doted on and cared for from birth. An avid gardener, Georgina harvested more than vegetables. She was a brilliant socializer who nurtured and harvested relationships with the same attention as her garden.

Georgina migrated to Canada in 1966 from Communist Yugoslavia, now Croatia. She married in 1966 to Andrija (Andy) Pintaric and had two daughters. A stenographer who later became a hair stylist, Georgina had many hobbies including cooking, baking, canning, knitting, crocheting, and more. She was known for her delicious apple strudel and her strong work ethic. She loved to play cards and would team up with her grandson so that they would win – she claimed that she never cheated though her grandson would pledge otherwise.

A Celebration of Georgina’s Life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 1:00 pm at St Michael’s Church (800 85th Street SW, Calgary, AB). A wake, hosted in her daughter’s home, will follow the service.

The family would like to thank the many people who were involved with her physical, emotional, and spiritual care – the healthcare professionals, family and friends including the dear friends from St. Michael’s parish who continuously looked in on her and assisted her in many different capacities. The family is grateful for their prayers and lovely gifts.
