Obituary for George Milton Waugh

It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Milton Waugh announce his passing at the age of 73 after a sudden and brief battle with cancer.

George was born on March 3, 1949, in Rusagonis, New Brunswick, to Fraser Eden Waugh and (Laura) Marion Waugh (nee Phillips). He spent most of his life in the Fredericton area before moving to Golden, British Columbia in the early 2000s. He worked in sales, house construction, and home and business renovation, but the twin passions of his life were pursuing the heart of God and helping other people. A man of kindness and compassion, George could always be relied upon to stop whatever he was doing to help someone in need.

George was the beloved husband of his dear wife, Norma (née MacDonald), and father to his dearly loved daughters Leta and Cynthia. His girls never lacked adoration and have fond memories of “dancin’ and dancin’ and prancin’” with their dad when they were little.

George was predeceased by his parents, his sister Geraldine, and his niece Jacqueline. He is survived by his wife and daughters; his siblings Fraser (Bonita) Waugh, Marilyn (Wayne) Jacques, Deb (Larry) Sinnett, Phil (Chrystal) Waugh, and Ferne Waugh; and several nieces and nephews.

He passed peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022, with family by his side at Agapé Hospice in Calgary, Alberta, after spending a few weeks at Foothills Hospital.

His family wishes to thank his doctors at Golden Medical Clinic and his doctors, nurses, and patient care and cleaning staff at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC, and at Foothills Hospital in Calgary. Special thanks go to the hospice workers at Agapé – you made Dad’s last days so precious and sacred. Thank you!

George’s family will be hosting a special gathering in New Brunswick in the summer of 2023 when they bring his ashes home to “the Gornish.”

Donations in George’s memory can be made to Agapé Hospice.
