It is with heavy hearts that we announce George’s passing on Sunday, April 24, 2022, at Dulcina Hospice in Calgary, following a 10-month battle with multiple myeloma.

George is survived by his life partner Joan Watts; his mother Kay Chow; his siblings Florence Chu (Bing) and Albert Chow (Lynn Kelly) all of Calgary; as well as his nephews Michael Chu (Tamara) of London, Ontario, and Kevin Chow (Christel) of Calgary; his niece Jennifer Chu (Andrew) of Edmonton; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father Ray See Yin Chow and his brother Larry Chow.

George was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1958. He attended the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, graduating in 1980 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical with Distinction. After university, he took a year off to travel the world.

He continued to love travelling, and after he met his partner Joan at a dance class in 1997 they chose mostly cruises, where George could combine his love of dancing with his love of seeing the world.

George worked in Information Technology, beginning at Nova Corporation and ending his career with Alberta Justice.
He loved watches, photography, his family and friends, his best friend, Joan, and their cat Jack. He was devoted to his mother, and invited her to live with them in 2020. He walked with her almost every day, and spent many hours with her playing mahjong and sharing meals.

Funeral Service with be held at Choice Memorial (105, 4715 - 13 Street NE, Calgary, AB) on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest at Rosedale Cemetery in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.
