Paquette, Gabriel Joseph
Gabriel Joseph Paquette, loving husband, father of 4, grandfather of 6, great grandfather of 16 and great great grandfather of 1, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at 84 years of age.
Gabe was well known for his love of family, animals, playing cards and having a good laugh. During his life he was a farmer, machinist, carpenter, mail carrier, animal care worker and general jack of all trades. His proudest accomplishment was retiring at 55 to become a homesteader. He built his farm from scratch on a quarter section between Ponoka and Rimbey, AB and raised cattle, pigs, horses, dogs and cats. He enjoyed the wildlife that passed through his piece of paradise.
Gabe was born on September 24, 1935 to Adrian and Lucia (Dumontier) Paquette in Watson, SK. He will be missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Sylvia (McAreavy); children, Audrey (Roderick) Bley, Tim (Cori), Tom (Shirley Johnson) and Cathy (Ed Spohn); brothers, Ted of Threehills, AB, Adrian (Olga) of Coldstream, BC and Andrew (MaryAnne) of Camrose, AB; sister-in-law, Shirley of Calgary and many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
Our thanks to the staff of Carewest George Boyack where Gabe resided during the last few months. Gabriel will be cremated in Calgary by Choice Memorial Cremation & Funeral Services. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Gabe’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation or to any animal conservation society of your choice.
