Obituary for Francis Germain Boland

Francis “Frank” Germain Boland
July 7,1958 - May 6,2021

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Francis (Frank) Boland, announce the passing of Frank, 62, on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Calgary, AB. Frank was born and raised in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and eventually transitioned to Calgary, Alberta, where he resided for over 35 years.

He worked in the rebar industry for years before eventually starting his own rebar company called the Pile Builders, which his sons, Francis and Matthew will continue as his legacy. He also had a passion for fishing. He was known for his funny personality and ability to make anyone around him laugh.

He was the son of the late Stephen and Veronica Boland (Woods) of Glace Bay, Nova Scotia. Frank is survived by his one true love, Patricia Mcivor; their sons, Francis Boland (Candice) and Matthew Boland (Amy); daughter, April Younker (Calgary); grandchildren, Ethan, Jordan, Jacob, Kayden, Tristian, Nova, Atlas and soon to be granddaughter; brothers, Andre (Zoe Ann) Dominion, Brian (Ann) Glace Bay, Chris (Lisa) Hamilton, Elton (Shelia) Kitchener, and Raymond (Bev) Glace Bay; sister, Vera (New Jersey); as well as several nieces and nephews, Sonya, Stephen, Mark, Fallon, Darrell, Crystal, Chantal, Jason, Tara, Nicole, Kathy and Holly. He is predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Veronica Boland (Woods) and Stephen Boland; brother in infancy, Gerard, Brother, Stephen; brother, Darrell and brother-in-law, Billy.

Frank was one of a kind, his stern look through sunglasses always made you consider if you were working hard enough or not, kind of made you a little nervous from afar, until you spoke with him.
He would say "no worries boys, don’t mind me" just thinking about fishing. Theres not too many times you could look at Frank without laughter, considering he would always have something smart to say, and you could tell by his face before you even got to his truck, that there would be laughs involved. Some called Frank Rapella man, himself. Unless you went fishing with him, he would just call you bad luck. Or he would call you the skunk, which means, you suck at fishing.

In his spare time he would like to pick up Patricia and take her to Value Village, to pick up "something nice". He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and daughters inlaw.

Cremation has taken place at Choice Memorial Funeral Home in Calgary, AB. A private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Due to Covid 19 restrictions, there will also be a private livestream on YouTube channel during the service for anyone wanting to attend online that unfortunately cannot be there in person and you can view that here Frank Boland LiveStream. Gone but not forgotten and forever in our hearts.

You never said your leaving,
You never said goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it,
And only god knew why.
A million times we needed you,
A million times we cried,
If love could have saved you,
You would have never died.
In life we loved you dearly,
In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,
That no one could ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day god took you home.
