Elsie Lukenchuk beloved wife of the late Dr. John Lukenchuk (of Vegreville, AB) passed away surrounded by family on Friday June 3, 2022, in Calgary, AB at the age of 89 years.

Elsie will be missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Darcy (Laurie) Lukenchuk of Saskatoon SK, Shauna (Victor) Goshko of Victoria BC, Lorna (Mike Gilhooly) Lukenchuk and Mark (Carmen Lehmann) Lukenchuk, both of Calgary AB; her grandchildren, Tasha (Adam), Jayd (Jill), Syriess (Austin), Samuel, Ian (Luke), Caylee-Britt, Mikaela, Lisa, Ben (Rebecca), and Daniel; sisters Marilyn (Percy) Bartoshyk and Ethel (Bob) Horde; and sister-in-law, Ida Motowylo. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. John Lukenchuk; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lukenchuk; siblings, Ivy Ewasiuk (Marshall), Orest Motowylo and David Motowylo.

Elsie was born in Myrnam, AB to parents, Sam and Mary Motowylo, and was the oldest in a family of six. In 1953, Elsie married Dr. John Lukenchuk, also from Myrnam. After John finished his medical training, the couple settled in Vegreville, AB where they raised their family of four. In 1988, after John's untimely passing in 1986, Elsie moved to Calgary. "Grandma Els" ("Gummy") played a huge part in the lives of her children and grandchildren. She was always an ardent sports fan, especially enjoying hockey, baseball, and curling. In addition, Elsie was a fabulous cook and baker often spoiling her family with her Cookies and Cream dessert.

She will be sorely missed.

The family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care that Elsie received at Amica Aspen Woods senior residence and at lntercare Southwood Hospice in Calgary.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elsie’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A Celebration of Elsie's Life will be held at a later date when her ashes will be lovingly united with her beloved husbands in Edmonton, AB.
