Obituary for Edward Anthony Bross

Bross, Edward Anthony

Edward Anthony Bross (born September 1, 1937) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the age of 82 years. Ed was born to Peter and Dora Bross in Jansen, Saskatchewan, where he attended and graduated from Jansen High School. After school, Ed entered the Royal Canadian Air Force and remained in contact with friends he made there right up until his death. The Air Force took him from skydiving exercises in BC to being stationed at a base in Ontario. After more training in Biloxi, Mississippi, he moved to the Airbase in Winnipeg, Manitoba, where he finished his military career, using his gifts with mechanical understanding to repair aircraft radios. In 1959, he began studies at Lakeland Agricultural College in Vermilion, Alberta. Ed moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1963 and worked for Geospace Canada, making equipment for seismic oil exploration before moving to Whissel Engineering, where he would eventually retire from his job as a parts manager.

In June of 1966, Ed married the love of his life, Luciel. Together with her daughter Colleen, they formed a loving family in the community of Acadia, where he remained for the rest of his life surrounded by the good friends he made there. In 1978, they were blessed with a son, Darcy.

Ed was always helping neighbours with cleanups and other miscellaneous yard work and was a true friend you would always want in your corner. Not even a diagnosis of lymphoma in late 2016 could keep him from being the dependable neighbour, friend and family member people always knew.

Ed loved spending time with family and entertaining the kids, especially his five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, camping and trips to visit relatives in Saskatchewan and BC and was often the unofficial photographer at family gatherings.

Ed is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Colleen and Don McCreadie; son and daughter-in-law, Darcy and Nicole Bross; grandchildren, Meagan, Travis (Hope), and Kyley McCreadie, Mairead and Finley Bross; great-grandchildren, Parker, Cadence and Axton Gagnon, Killian and James McCreadie; brother, Ray; sister, Nell (Richard); niece, Rhonda (Tom); nephew, Stephen (Tyler) and great-nephews and nieces Jackson, Hayden and Rachel. He was predeceased by his wife, Luciel, and his brother, Bert.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 11:00 am at Choice Funeral Services (105, 4715-13 Street NE, Calgary, Alberta).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s memory to Alberta Cancer Foundation
