Obituary for Edith Arlene McCann (McKay)

McCann, Edith
March 27th, 1931 - Sunday, December 22nd, 2019

Edith passed away peacefully at Walden Heights Age Care Calgary where she had lived for the past five years. The family would like to thank all the staff at Walden Heights for the compassionate care they gave Edith during her time there.

Edith was born in Medicine Hat to Ernie and Laura McKay. She married her husband Doc in 1950 and became a busy mom and a supportive wife. Edith spent many years involved in the family business, McCann’s Building Movers, retiring from the day to day operations in the late seventies. She enjoyed joining Doc on day trips checking out potential jobs, especially checking out new restaurants at the end of the day. She also loved spending time in her flower and veggie gardens, doing needle point and taking the occasional trip.

Edith is survived by her children Pat (Lana), Ron, Maureen, Judy (Randy); her grandchildren Cathy, Pat, Dwayne, Melody, Denise, Shauna, Blair, Nathan, Eric, Jenny and Cassi and her many great-grandchildren, her siblings Wilma (Norm) and Larry (Marg) and sister-in-law Florence.

She was pre-deceased by her husband Doc, her parents Ernie and Laura McKay and siblings Jim (Ann), Gene (Florence), Denny (Lena), Myrna (Gary) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will say their goodbyes and celebrate the life of Edith; mother, sister and grandmother at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in the spring. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith’s memory to Alzhiemer Society of Alberta
