Obituary for Edgardo De Jesus

Edgardo Beluya De Jesus
September 24, 1941 to April 20, 2020

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and lolo, on Monday, April 20, 2020.

Edgardo was born on September 24, 1941 in Manila, Philippines.

In the Philippines he graduated as a tailor and had his own shop where he made custom business suits and also cadet uniforms. He immigrated to Winnipeg in 1973 to join his sisters and helped build a foundation in Canada for his family.

Ed was a great example of hard work and was extremely generous. He was always willing to help out family and friends, even strangers. He was a joker and always found enjoyment in teasing others. In Winnipeg, he worked as a glazier for most of his life. He spent the last few years of his life in Calgary to be close to his children and grandchildren. He was able to experience his first family vacation to Vancouver Island and was able to swim in the ocean.

Ed was predeceased by his parents, Florentino and Maximina; brothers Jessie and Eduardo; and niece Mary Ann.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Felicitas; children, Julie Popescu (Eddie), Jenette Gibson (Brad), Tess Topor (Grant) and Jeffrey (Dusty); grandchildren, Marley, Brennen, Sarah and Brayden; siblings, Grace Villanueva (Fernando), Emily De Guzman (Rodrigo), Linda Yzon (Jun) and Nestor (Eva); sister-in-law Lily; all his nieces, nephews and godchildren.

The family holds a special place in their hearts for niece, Jerelee Bryn (JB) Poblete Zaragoza who held her Tito’s hand.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent via e-transfer to edfelyd@gmail.com
