Edelgard Irene Brown
1940 - 2023
It is with great sadness and sorrow that Edelgard Irene Brown (nee Knoll) went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Friday April 28th, 2023 at the age of 82 at the Rocky View Hospital in Calgary.
She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her husband Earl Gordon Brown; her sister Elfriede; and numerous family members and friends. Edelgard was predeceased by her parents Willi and Erna Knoll.
Edelgard was born July 27th, 1940 in Kirchiplatz, Germany. Her family immigrated to Canada when she was very young. After leaving home, Edelgard lived and worked in Edmonton where she met her husband Earl. They moved to Calgary where they married in 1968.
During her lifespan she had several jobs including Secretary, Sales Clerk, Caregiver (for 9 years), plus serving as a volunteer at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church “SideBySide” program for many years. She always looked forward to going to church and being involved. She enjoyed many crafts year round. In the summertime she loved being in her garden, taking care of her many beautiful flowers. She specifically treasured her collection of ornaments in her home, of which she had many.
During her life there were several much loved pets. A dog named Taffy and 3 cats named Lucy, Simba, and Muffin. Edelgard was a “Gentle Spirit” and related well with animals big and small.
Edelgard’s wish was for her ashes to be laid to rest with her parents in Castor, AB. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2:00 pm will be held at a later date at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Dr SW, Calgary, AB T2V 2W4).
