Obituary for Douglas Ronald Brockway

It is with great sadness that the family of Douglas Ronald Brockway announces his passing on October 15, 2020.
Douglas was born on December 1, 1943 in High River, Alberta to Marvin and Lois Brockway. He grew up on a farm in the Meadowbank area and attended Meadowbank and Cayley Schools. Following his graduation from SAIT as an electronics technologist, Doug was married to Anita McClelland of High River. This was followed by his graduation from U of C in 1970 as an Electrical Engineer He spent many years in the Oil Industry, retiring in 2002 as International Facilities Manager for Canadian Occidental Petroleum.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anita; son, Scott (Kelsey); grandchildren, Noah, Quorra and Axton; daughter, Jordana Bivins (Eric); grandsons, James and Riley. He is also survived by his brother, Gordon; sister, Margaret Newby, along with many nieces and nephews.

Doug was a fun-loving person who could brighten up a room with his infectious laugh. He and Anita loved to travel, sail, golf, scuba dive. Doug loved spending many fun hours with their family and friends at their cottage on Lake Windermere. Doug and Anita were 1 day short of their 55th wedding anniversary. Doug will be missed by so many with whom he has worked, travelled, dined and laughed with over the years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Doug’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A double Memorial Service will be held for Doug and his beloved wife, Anita, who passed in September 2021 on Friday, October 1, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Bow Valley Christian Church (5300 – 53 Avenue NW, Calgary, AB).
