Abel, Dorothy Joan (Joan)
November 8, 1944 – September 17, 2022
Joan passed away on Saturday, Sept 17, 2022 at the age of 77.
Joan was born in Regina, SK and raised her family in Calgary, AB.
Joan is survived and dearly missed by her 4 children Connie (Barry), Cory (Kerri), Randie (Cory) and Mike; 9 grandchildren Nicole (Kalan), Jeff (Erin), Tyler, Ryann, Dylan, Tanner, Riley, Jordyn & Megan; 3 great grandchildren Chesney, Shyanne & Blakelyn; siblings Sharon, Jim (Ginelle); in-laws Graham & Lorraine; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Irene Band; her twin sister – Lois; brothers Bob and Jackie; great granddaughter Jacelyn; and her partner Mike Andrejcin.
What brought her the most enjoyment was her kiddies, grand kiddies and being a GG (great grandma). Joansie will be remembered for the love she shared for her family, friends and anyone she met. She had a big heart and would spend most of her time helping others. She enjoyed traveling with family on many family excursions over the years.
She had a passion for sports (Saskatchewan Roughies, Blue Jays and Flames) and rarely missed a game. She was an avid bowler for many years and in her spare time enjoyed puzzles and games.
She will be missed by all – HUGS XXXOOO
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at Brewsters McKenzie Towne (11 McKenzie Towne Avenue SE) on Sunday, October 2, 2022 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, with a short memorial starting at 2:00 pm. Please wear your favourite sport’s theme attire.
Donations in memory of Joan may be made to Alberta Rheumatology.
